Aboard The Plank

I was being pushed by the fierce pirates on to the plank. Their swords swang around my head and  scratched my legs till they bleed, like roses were growing around me. I shuffled back until I was on the back of the plank and could no longer step back.

“Jump in the water boy let those sharks rip you to pieces” the captain screeched. I looked down into the dark, blue sea and he was not lying. Cycling below the plank was hungry sharks and I was sure they would glob me up in one huge snap of their teeth. I tried not to think that I was about to jump into water that was filled with man eating sharks but it was too hard.

So I went for it and flung my legs into the air without thinking about what I was doing. “Splash” I could feel my arms hit the surface of the water, but not only to my horror I could also hear the sharks grinding their teeth together. I closed my eyes and wished for the best, I could feel something touching my back. I was going to die!

“Josh wake up” I looked to find myself face to face with my Mum. It was only just a dream or was it?

I saw my brother (Jack) writing about some one jumping into lava and I thought I might have a try and turn it into my own version!

My Room

The fuzzy fluff of my cat swirls around my bedroom, my wall covered with flowers like millions of fields filled with daisy. My teddies all huddled up in one bunch like they want a friend. The sun shines through the open windows and lightens up my room like a torch in my eyes. My old draws sit at the back corner like it's been in detention for years.

My creaky door swings open and shut as the wind blows against it harshly. My things scattered thin and wide over my desk like they are having a party and taking over my room and of course my kitten sleeping quietly at my side, purring away like she is having a daydream. This is definitely my room!

Mr. Pukeko

A little friend came to visit this after noon and have a look around the school yard. It had a little peak and then raced off on a journey to some where. I tried to get a video of it but it didn't work that well because the little creature keep't on running away!

Rocket Practice (maths)

Maths Practice

Maths,Maths and more Maths. I have been playing this really cool game to practice my rocket goal which is decimals and my Maths, it's call Number Bonds. I start off not to bad but after some go's at it I got 22 out of 22 and that means I got nothing wrong and I think that's pretty good for me.

This game is awesome it does not only let me practice my decimals but lets me practice heaps more like timetables for example. I can learn heaps from just one game!

Today I tried it again and guess what I got 31 out of 31!

Usain Bolts New Record

Last night Jamaica's Usain Bolt smashed his old Olympic world record by winning his race in 9.63 seconds. He got to the line before his fellow Jamaican opponent Yohan Blake and just behind them was Justin Gatlin from the United States America. After the race Usain was really proud and knew that he was the one to bet. Meaning his country is now 25th on the medal table.

During the start of the race, I didn’t really know what was going to happen with any of the racers. But once we got the end Usain showed courage and let his feet pound the ground with a win. I am sure his butterflys have flu away and he has replaced them by being proud and I am also sure his country is proud of him and hope he will still be the star to bet.

Here is a link to a really cool website about his race!

Smurf Olympics

We have had a big day out on the fields today at the Smurf village. A lot of people stood out here at the events but Smurfet and Clumsy Smurf both worked hard and achieving a gold medal to take home. What a day full of action!

Invaded By Adjectives

Invaded By Adjectives

Bella has been invaded by adjectives. Can anybody help her?
Whats going to happen?
Can you help?

I was running through the corridor towards my classroom. The bell had already rang and I didn’t want to be any later otherwise I would be in deep trouble with Mrs.Bark if I got to class twenty minutes late. I crashed through the door to be face to face with my teacher and guess what by the looks on her face she didn’t look that pleased with me. “Bella! get to your seat and don’t talk to me for the rest of the day” I slowly tiptoed to my seat, I could hear people chuckling at me of course. I pushed my bag under my desk and sat down trying not to fall over. Suddenly Mrs.Bark started on a topic about adjectives Now..”

I got my books out and wrote a letter to my best friend Samantha

Lets have a competition :)
Today we have to use adjectives with every word we say!
From Bella

She winked back at me with a wicked grin. I raised my hand and Mrs.Bark nodded her head at me and turned. “Mrs.thin, tall, hairy Bark can I please go to the stinky, sme\lly, toilet?” she stared at me and smiled. “What a great sentence to use Bella thank you, that is perfect” I crossed my eyes, them Sam stared also, then she raised her hand Mrs.Bark nodded “ Tall, fat, big, huge Jarred is talking loudly in the huge, big class room Mrs” she just looked and said “the class really likes their adjectives today” I nodded.

At the end of the day the competition was over but it doesn’t seem like it because adjectives keep on spitting out of my mouth like fire coming out of a dragon’s mouth. “Mum can I quickly and quietly walk to the shops” “Dad you are very tall, short, huge, big” I couldn’t take it any more. I told Samantha and she said that there was some kind of witch doctor around my street. Well of course I didn’t believe her but I did try.

I knocked on the door twice and there was no answer. So I just walked on through, the floor creaked under my feet and the walls had half the wallpaper hanging down. I was creeped out by this place suddenly I heard a voice coming from inside one of the bedrooms “Hello Bella, I heard you have a problem?” I step back and looked around the house, I couldn't see a thing the house was just a big black shadow. “Come in come in my girl” she mumbled I walked into a little room where I found a little old lady sitting on huge chair. She was wearing the most weirdest clothes and her face was covered in wrinkled.

“Who are you small, wrinkly, big eyed women?” I smacked my hand over my mouth and turned red. “Well! I have heard you  have been having problems with your words, I mean adjectives?” I gulped she knew everything but how?

“I can help you with your troubles by the click of my fingers” I knew she was just kidding around with but I still stood there listening to her words. “I will help you on one condition, you must never be late again?” I had a feeling she might be telling the truth so I went with and nodded and “BANG,SLAP, KAPOW” she clicked her fingers in seconds and I found myself back in the corridor door just like I was yesterday. I looked up at the clock and it was 8.30am there was still half an hour till the bell rings.”Magic”

Inferring- A Rock And A hard

A Rock And A Hard Place

The End:

When I wake up in the morning, I realise he has.

I inferred that he chose to support both sides and that Fletcher made him understand why he should support the All Blacks too because of the saying you don’t have to choose between being ginger and being white.

I also inferred that from all the people he ask and the answers, he might of thought to also support the All Blacks and the Springboks.

The Beginning:

It seems to me you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place,” says my rugby coach

From the title I thought it might be about rugby and something about being stuck and you don’t know what to decide on.

It seems to me you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place,” says my rugby coach.

When I wake up in the morning, I realise he has.

I said: That there is going to be a challenge up ahead or he might have to decide to choose between two things.

Felicity said: I inferred that his coach was trying to get him to support his new country, ( NZ ).

I said: I inferred that he chose to support both sides and that Fletcher made him understand why he should support the All Blacks too because of the saying you don’t have to choose between being ginger and being white.

Felicity said: I inferred that he chose to support both teams ( All Blacks & Springboks Fletcher ( cat ) kind of made him understand the meaning of ‘ A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE ’. From his colours, from the saying that you don’t have to choose between being ginger and being white.

I said: I know that it will be about someone stuck and needs help and that it means it will be a lose- lose chance.

Felicity said: I know that he was using a saying to make it a little more fun and maybe tricky to understand what it means and it can also be when someone is stuck with something. It is called a lose-lose situation.

I said: I know that the cat made him decide and that he decided to support both teams.

Felicity said:

That his pet cat made him choose what team to go for and that he didn’t have to think really hard to try and choose what team to cheer for.

Olympic Ceremony Report

Hi I’m Natasha,
and I’m here at the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics in London. Bradley Wiggins winner of the Tour de France just started off the ceremony with the bell. What a start! I feel like I have gone back in time to the good old days, everyone is running around and playing, skipping or throwing a ball.

The cheering is getting higher and higher as I speak. What do you know? James Bond and the Queen have just arrived but not just from anywhere, it looks like they are parachuting down. It's incredible.

The Queen is making her way to her seat, she been escorted by her loyal William and his stunning wife Kate. It looks like the Queen is about to open the games. Wow I didn't see that coming! Fireworks are exploding around me right at this moment, I can not hear a thing. It’s spectacular!

David Beckham has just arrived in a jet boat, he is just arrived at the wharf now. The torch has just now been passed on and here it comes.

Slowly the torch reaches what looks like the cauldron and...
Wow what a sight to see! the stadium is lit up with a tremendous flame of light. Its amazing I can’t describe it in words. I just have to say what a good way to end the show!

Reflection On Learning

I am halfway through my awesome year of learning in Room 20. How am I learning?

Some things that are different about this year is having a netbook and the ways we learn.

Having a computer and Google account has helped me present things in better ways and learn to present also in other ways.

I like having a blog because I can share my learning at home with my family and you can show your work to the world. You can also get some really awesome comments, that make you feel proud.

I share my learning by telling Mum and Dad to go onto my blog and writing comments on other peoples blogs.

I help others by sharing my work and talking to them. Also putting comments on their docs to tell them what they need to work on.

I use ICT to help my learning in these ways: making all these videos and taking pictures help make learning fun and show how I am feeling.

I get feedback for my learning from students and my teacher. They give me feedback by telling me what I could work on or what I did well. This makes me feel proud of what I have done and tells me what I can do next time.

Things I am really proud of achieving in Room 20 is writing definitely, I have learned new ways of writing and forming my sentences.

Pictures and videos show what you are doing and show how we work. Being in this class helps me alot in all of my subjects but it does not just help me it makes thing fun and learn more. It also makes me proud of what I am doing.

Koru Art

For art we had to make our own Koru's, but they had to over lap.
